Is this
considered unsolicited mail, i.e., SPAM?
No. The folks on these lists asked to receive
press releases. The list is constantly being
updated with additions, changes and deletions.
At the beginning of each release we add a
statement telling them that they are the named
contact at their publication to receive the
release. If they are not, we ask them to let us
know. If they do ask to be removed, we send them a
follow up e-mail verifying their publication,
contact, e-mail address and area of interest. and
whether or not there is another contact. Usually
they tell us what their specific interests are,
and we place them in a special handle category. If
they ask to be removed, we do so immediately.

Who
writes the press release?
We serve as the distribution mechanism for the
press releases you write. If you do need
assistance, we can edit your release or write it
for you, at a separate charge. We also work with
other PR firms and ad agencies, and can refer you
to somebody who may specialize in your industry.

Are
there any guidelines on a press release, i.e.,
length, content, target?
Yes. Press Releases should be short and to the
point. Try to keep them under 500 words (under 250
is better). They should answer the five basic
marketing questions - who, what, where, when and
why. The main purpose of a press release is to
draw traffic to your site. (See examples)
The target audience should be addressed in the
beginning. In the subject line, give your title.
Often, publications will create filters which will
send press releases to a particular mailbox, based
on the subject line. This is especially true
around a trade show.
This does not mean a larger release will not be
accepted. It merely means you need to target it to
a different audience. For example, we sent out a
2,800 word article to 24 publications. One picked
it up (see "7
Steps to a Successful Implementation")
and many others were interested.
Use common courtesy and recognize the value of the
editor's time. (See Pet
Peeves of the Press).

Can we
select part of an Industry, i.e., Health without
Dentists?
Yes. We have varied selection options. Our easiest
choice is by state or zip code or telephone area
code or by industry sub
group. There is an additional charge of $25 for a
selection. You can select any or all of the
options. Or contact us for your
specific needs.

Can
I send to the same group each time?
Yes. If you ask us to hold your specific list for
you, we will hold it for 30 days.

When
do the publications let us know they published our
release?
You may never hear from them, yet they may publish
your release! Publications get hundreds of press
releases each day. Be honored if they publish you.
If they do contact you, it may be for additional
information, perhaps for a feature article. For
example, three of our clients were contacted by
publications who were going to feature their
articles. One was in a publication with 1 million
subscribers (see examples);
the second was in a specialized industry (waste
management); the third was an artist featured in a
leading art publication.
There are outside clipping services that you
may use. Search for "clipping
service" on any search engine, and contact
them.

Do
I have to send via e-mail, or can I mail or fax
them?
We only distribute your press release via e-mail.
Back
to Top
Will
you send us a confirmation of what was sent?
Yes. When the press release is sent to the
publications a copy is sent to you.
Back
to Top
Can
we get a list of the publication contacts to whom
we send for follow up calls?
No. First of all, the most serious complaint that
the press has is being bothered by follow up calls
(see Pet
Peeves of the Press). Secondly, we do
not publish our contact list.
Back
to Top
Do
these publications know you and give you
preferential treatment?
Some know us and others do not. We are acting as a
distribution vehicle for your press release. As
such, it is your content that will attract their
attention. We do act in a very professional
manner, however, and do gain respect from the
publications.
Back

What
results can we expect?
The only guarantee that we make is that we will
distribute your press release as stated. We cannot
guarantee that the publication will publish your
press release. We have found some press releases
get published many months after submission, which
means you will get activity long after you submit
your release.

Can
I send anything?
| WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT
ANYTHING THAT WE BELIEVE WILL BE
OFFENSIVE TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE. We
will let you know if we cannot accept
your press release. |
Back
to Top
How do
we pay for your services?
We accept checks which we convert to bank
drafts and we accept Standard
Gold or e-Gold.
